CompTIA’s Security+ certification is designed for IT professionals who have two years on-the-job networking experience, with an emphasis on security. The CompTIA Security+ Certification is an entry-level, vendor-neutral certification. It makes a great stepping-stone to more advanced certifications, such as the ISC2 SSCP and CISSP, and the SANS GIAC. Another benefit of the Security+ certification is that it can also be used in some Microsoft certification tracks.

CompTIA Security+ validates knowledge of systems security, network infrastructure, access control, assessments and audits, cryptography and organizational security. It is an international, vendor-neutral security certification that is taught at colleges, universities and commercial training centers around the world.

The job roles for those Security+ certified professionals typically include: Network Administrator, Security Specialist or Network Technician.

There is no specific requirement for CompTIA Security+ certification. It is appropriate for you if you are an entry-level network professional. Although there is no prerequisite for this certification, CompTIA recommends that you should have at least two years of experience in network support or administration. Pass Security+ exam is a must.
